To Set Up AssetWise

In order to import and export data using AssetWise CONNECT Edition, you must first add the AssetWise Import and Export engine, create a Data Import and Export Mapping file document, and then generate the EC Schema.

The data import and export mapping files are XML files that enable system administrators to control what and how users can import or exporting using AssetWise Import and Export. An XML file defines mappings between columns in user Excel files and AssetWise object properties or attributes. In order to enable users to import or export data it is mandatory to configure at least one data import and export mapping file to be accessible for users.

After you have added an import and export engine and created the data import and export mapping file, you must generate the EC schema so that the EB_BULKLOAD_MAP (Class name: Data Import and Export Mapping File), and the EB_BULKLOAD_PKG (Class name: Data Import and Export Package) document classes are added to the schema.

Follow these steps to prepare the system to import and export data using AssetWise CONNECT Edition.

  1. Open the AssetWise System Management Console.
  2. Select your community, and then select Engines.
  3. Add eB.Engine.ImportExport.dll.

  4. Confirm that Interoperability service is enabled for your community.
  5. Close the AssetWise System Management Console.
  6. Open AssetWise Director.
  7. Connect to your AssetWise data source.
  8. Create a new document using the EB_BULKLOAD_MAP_TEMPLATE template (Template name: Data Import and Export Mapping File).
  9. Upload Data Import and Export Mapping file into the document.
    Note: The default Data Import and Export Mapping file is installed together with AssetWise Information Integrity Server and its default location is: c:\Program Files\Bentley\eB\Server\Engines\ProvisionEngine\Provisioning.xml.
  10. Grant access permissions to the users who can import or export data, by granting access to the document.
  11. Generate the EC schema.
  12. Close AssetWise Director.
